Mentor Blogs

For my mentor blogs I didn’t choose any. I had a difficult time looking at the different blogs and figuring out what is it I want to take away from this. I started by searching for blogs about Laws since my final project is going to be about laws and different aspects of laws created in America. I viewed a couple different ones including #Karma – The Law of Cause and Effect by Dgkaye. The only couple things I really liked about this selection is that she started her blog post off with a definition and ended with a informal video that supported her main idea. Then I looked at this post called ” Trumps Law by Nan” and I really didn’t see anything interesting except how he ended his blog, he ended it with a opinion and a preference. I viewed a couple other blogs but I could’t really relate. Although it was good looking at different blogs and seeing the different layouts and all of the different possibilities we have when setting our blogs up. I feel like the blog process is relatively easy and if you had a myspace account that setting it up and designing it how u want is the easy part. The hard parts getting the words down, and a mentor blog can’t type my project for me. So even though I did view many possible mentor blogs I didn’t feel that they could be helpful enough to get the title “Mentor” blogs but I did find some helpful supportive blogs from which I may make my blogs a little better.

Future Technological Advancements

When I think about seeing ourselves through technological advancements in human society I think literal. I think robotic arms and virtual reality contact lens. I think the author was saying that we haven’t changed and our lives have only evolved around the things we have been able to use. For instance, when the only thing we could do was draw ourselves, portraits were the universal language of artist. When humans finally learned to write and take account of everything, what did we do? We wrote down everything. The direction that we are headed only leads to technological innovations in medicine, technologies, cars, buildings, everything that we possibly use in the near future will be somehow effected by advancements in technologies.

Did you know that you can edit you DNA from the comfort of your home, no doctors needed ? Through scientific technology  we can now edit our DNA by ordering a DNA kit via this company called CRISPR. CRISPR is according to Wikipedia, a family of DNA sequences found in the genomes of prokaryotic organisms such as bacteria and archaea. CRISPR DNA editing kits can be purchased from amazon. The type of  advanced medicine I’m picturing is medicine that targets your specific illness and cures it with little to no side effects and a short recovery time(if any).

We all have seen constant upgrades to the phones we use everyday; from big cell phones to the touch screen phones. Our cars have the ability to see crashes before they happen and even drive themselves. I just think we’re on our way to becoming technology and coming up with innovative ideas that will enable us to use technology easier or with less effort. That’s the future; everything accessible at all times.

Reading Like A Writer

I think the text was very interesting, and I’m intrigued. I feel like I already read like a writer, and write like a reader, naturally. What I feel like the author meant was reading like a writer gives you the ability to deconstruct the authors work, and reconstruct your work based off of what the author did or what methods he used.

For example, look how the author used parenthesis in the first paragraph. If I wanted to learn how to use parenthesis then I could use that as a reference. So since I’m reading the text like a writer, I see the author uses something a certain way, and now I learn that I can use it the exact way the author did.

I also thought it was weird how the author said something about writing teachers forgetting to teach reading and the importance of it. Through reading, writers get the chance to see the stuff they have been learning in writing class being used. I honestly agree with the author. If your going to teach writing you have to teach reading; they go hand-in-hand. You can’t have writing without reading, and you can’t have reading without writing.

To be honest, I never thought about the point of view that I’m reading from when I’m reading something. Now, I get it. I have to step aside from racing through a text just to get the job done, and really think about what I’m reading. As readers we have to ask ourselves certain questions so we can get the right perspective on what we are reading and what’s being said how and how it’s being said why it’s being said how it’s being said, that’s what make you really start to read like a write when you can start to ask yourself those things before reading a text.

Why Save?

Because saving money could save your life!

We instantly get the urge to spend as soon as the revenue is created. Why is that? With Amazon, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace right at our fingertips, how is a person supposed to save? A wise man once said,” Save your money because one day it might save you.” I never really knew what he meant by that quote, but I did start saving like the Wise Man suggested. There are so many different ways to save money, that I don’t understand why more people don’t do it. Anyone can open a bank account, and if that’s not for you can always put a small amount of money in a secret spot every so often and just let it accumulate. As young adults we naturally want to spend but I’m telling you saving can be just as exhilarating

So, let’s talk about your spending habits to mold your saving habits. The second you get some form of income, you instantly think of something to buy. It’s not your fault! We are constantly advertised to buy something almost at all times and on top of that, we have the technology to buy something anytime we want to. We all have bad spending habits. That’s the problem but saving is the solution.

There’s is as many ways to save money as there is to spend money. I personally have multiple savings accounts, including stock apps and the usual bank accounts. According to google there are atleast 10 apps that can help you save money. I deposited 20 dollars into a savings account on this app called acorns on May 24th,2019 today that 20$ is worth roughly 170$.  Acorns is an app you can download on your phone and it helps you save your spare change and take the spare change and invest it into the stock market. Another one of my favorite saving tools is Robinhood. With the right research and timing you could get rich on Robinhood. Just like the younger generation is being targeted to spend we should be targeted to invest. We know whats going to be popular before the main industry because we set the trends that we follow. That’s what fluctuates the falls and rises of stock prices, popularity and progress. Lets be honest. Who knew that the trillion dollar company Apple was worth a trillion dollars in 2007? We did. The young generation who embraced the touchscreen, and religiously embraced every Iphone ever. What about Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft? If we all knew of the money we could have made if we bought 20$ worth of Apples’ stock 5-8 years ago, don’t you think you would have saved something. Just think, what if you bout 10 shares of apple when the first Iphone came out instead of buying a Iphone? You’d have more money than you do right now.

You never know when its going to rain but your going to be stuck in the weather whether you like it or not. This is where saving that little 20 here and 20 there comes in handy. Or that 20 that you put on Acorns or Robinhood and is now worth 50$, will come in handy big time when you’ve used your last bit if pocket change on an unforeseen life crisis. You need to have money put up for insurance. Anything can happen where you could instantly need 50$ or you could need 50 thousand dollars. If you spent your money as soon as you got it, well what would you have? A wise man once said save your money because one day it might save you,” and that’s my advice to you, save your money because one day it might save you!

The License For Me

I chose the licenses that make is legal so as long as I’m mentioned when its shared. I feel like this is the best option when your doing something public and just want it to get as much publicity as possible. I allowed commercial use of my work because if something I created generated enough money eventually, whoever is making the money will have to come the source. I also allowed remixed or modified versions of my work to be shared because no one likes the same thing. It’s all net work marketing if you ask me. I just think different versions, shown to a different audience, isn’t a bad thing. This is my personal perspective that made me choose the license I did.

My Blog Set-Up

How Did The Blog Set-Up Process Go For Me?

I think it is no harder than setting up social media. I logged right on and followed the instructions on the screen. The only part that is really going to take some getting used to, is learning how to really customize the blog how I want.

The Easy Parts For Me:

  • Navigating the home page and set up page
  • Editing the text.

The Time Consuming Parts:

  • Locating pictures
  • Locating adequate links to compliment arguments
  • Designing the whole blog
  • Customizing the blog

I felt like writing the post wasn’t intimidating at all. Maybe blogging won’t be so bad, but I do feel like it’s going to be real time consuming and it’s not something that you can just rush through. I’m open to learning new thing so I’m ready to blog.
